Retrouve-moi

Description

Retrouve-moi is a free citizen platform for reporting and searching for missing people, lost objects and lost documents across the ten regions of Cameroon. Anyone can submit a report without an account; reports are browsable by region and on an interactive map, alongside case statistics and emergency numbers.

My role

Solo project: I designed, built and deployed everything, from the database schema to the production server.

My contributions

• Designed the MySQL database schema and built the REST API with Laravel, using Sanctum token authentication and Redis for cache, queues and sessions
• Created the app’s visual identity
• Built the Next.js front end, including an interactive Leaflet map of reports with marker clustering
• Built the reporting flow, open to visitors without an account, with forms validated by react-hook-form and zod
• Wrote PHPUnit tests for the API, plus Vitest unit tests and Playwright end-to-end tests for the front end, with MSW to mock the API
• Set up CI with GitHub Actions: front-end tests and build on every push, and Docker images for the front end and the API built and pushed to GitHub Container Registry
• Deployed the stack on a VPS with Docker Compose (Next.js, NGINX with PHP-FPM, scheduler, Redis and MySQL) behind an NGINX reverse proxy that handles TLS, and set up the domain name and its DNS
